Top 20 Animated Movies

I may be 28 years old, but I love me some animated movies! I wanted to share my favorites with you and a little about why they fall into this group. Let's get started!

20. Ice Age
This is a super cute movie with some really funny parts. Of course, just like most people, I love the squirrel.

19. All Dogs Go To Heaven
I've always liked this movie, but this is one that I have to be in the mood for.

18. Thumbelina
Most people probably won't even know what this one is. I really like this one, but at the same time, think it's really annoying.

17. Frankenweenie
It's a Tim Burton movie, so there was a pretty good chance that I would like it. The subject matter is really sad for me and I've cried the few times I've watched it. It just makes me miss my Casey.

16. Once Upon A Forest
This movie is cute, sad and adorable. If you haven't seen this, watch it!

15. Fern Gully
I LOVE this movie! Batty is absolutely hilarious, but then again, it's Robin Williams so of course he's funny. Just a really cute movie overall.

14. Corpse Bride
Another Tim Burton film. The first time I saw this, I was a little too excited about it and I think I ruined it for myself a bit. It's a really good movie, but I was expecting amazing. After I watched it a second time, I grew to like it more. I'm assuming that's because I was over the initial disappointment. If you're a Tim Burton fan, you'll like this.

13. Shrek
This is one of the funniest kid's movies I've ever seen. They did such an amazing job with this movie and I've never heard an adult say that they didn't enjoy watching this one. (I'm sure there are some out there. I just haven't personally talked to anyone who didn't like it.) I'd have to say that the gingerbread cookie is my favorite character.

12. Hoodwinked
So good! This is another one that has some adult humor. Anne Hathaway voices the main character and she is one of my favorite actresses. So that's a bonus.

11. Monster House
I was really surprised at how much I liked this one. I thought it looked cute, but I ended up loving it. This is one that I've seen quite a few times and it has some cute and funny parts in it.

10. 101 Dalmatians
If you make a movie about a bunch of dogs, I will probably like it. This is a classic and I love it so much. The first time I watched it after I got Mowgli, he would look up at the screen every now and then when he'd hear barks.

9. Aladdin
Another classic. Robin Williams as the genie is absolutely awesome. I don't think anyone could have been better. But then they had Gilbert Gottfried as Iago and that's just annoying. But again, I think he was perfect for the character. This is such an adorable movie and I really, really want Abu. And a flying carpet.

8. The Lion King
If we're doing Disney movies, you had to know this one was coming. I was obsessed with this movie for a long time. I'm sure part of the reason was because Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the voice of young Simba. To this day, I still cry every single time I watch this movie.

7. Beauty and the Beast
Seriously, if someone gave me a library like that, I'd probably stay too. Lumiere is probably my favorite character. Chip is pretty damn adorable though.

6. James and the Giant Peach
Holy balls, do I love this movie! I loved the transition from live action to animation. This was the first movie I had seen that had done that. Tim Burton was the producer, so again, no surprise that I like it so much. If you pay attention, Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas shows up somewhere.

5. Peter Pan
This has always been in my classic Disney top 3. I just love everything about this movie. I've always like Tinkerbell, even though she's kind of a bitch. I heard something not to long ago about this movie. Supposedly, Peter Pan was actually an angel of death and brought the children to heaven (Neverland.) This is the reasoning behind why they never grew up. If that's true, that's pretty fucked up for a kid's movie.

4. The Jungle Book
This is probably tied with my top classic Disney movie. But I can't tell you what that is yet, because it's on here. I love this movie so much that I named my doggy after the main character. I've always wanted to get a black cat and name him Bagheera. So put that on my list of life goals.

3. Coraline
Omg. Omg. Omg. I'm so in love with this movie, I can't even stand it. Any time this movie was on TV, I would watch it. When I was with my ex, he would be in a different room and knew from the intro music that I was watching this. Again. "Are you seriously watching Coraline again?" Yes. Yes, I am. If I'm ever feeling down, this is one of my go-to movies. It always makes me feel a little better. It's also pretty sweet that she's from Michigan. Just sayin'.

2. Alice In Wonderland
Favorite Disney movie. Hands down. And I don't even do drugs. This one has always been able to make me feel better, too. Sometimes, Alice really pisses me off for being so damn nosey, but at least it makes for a good movie.

1. The Nightmare Before Christmas
After all my talk about loving Tim Burton, you probably saw this coming. I don't think there will ever be a more perfect animated movie for me. I've made it a tradition with myself to watch this every Christmas Eve. Why not Halloween, you ask? Just fucking because. I decided to pick Christmas. And then I watch it throughout the year whenever I damn well feel like it. So. Freaking. Good!

And now for some honorable mentions. There are far too many good animated movies out there to not give these a shout out. These are simply in alphabetical order, because, well, that's just easiest.

Cars
I can't even tell you how many times I've seen this damn movie. When I used to babysit my nephew (he was 2 at the time, I believe), we seriously watched this every day. I really do think this is a cute movie. I'm just over it. It'll probably be a long while before I watch it again. My nephew is now 8, so if that tells you anything...

Cinderella
Another classic. I really love this movie, but it's not one I can watch all the time. The music kind of gets on my nerves if I'm not in the mood for it.

Cool World
If you know this movie, I personally want to shake your hand. This is totally not a kid's movie. I only realized that when my nephew wanted to watch it a few years ago. I figured since I watched it as a kid, it was safe. I obviously hadn't watched it in a really long time and I was cringing the whole time we were watching it.

The Croods
I thought this one was really cute. Emma Stone is the voice of the main character, so that's a bonus. I would highly recommend this one. It's got some pretty funny parts in it.

Epic
A newer animated movie. The preview looked cute, so I said why not. I ended up liking it. It's a little different than what I was expecting, but good. Aziz Ansari plays a slug and is absolutely hilarious.

Finding Nemo
It took me quite a while to watch this one. I just wasn't that interested. When I finally did see it, I thought it was cute, but overrated. Trevor loves this one.

Frozen
I didn't really want to watch this one because there was so much hype behind it. I finally cracked and I can totally see why everyone is so in love with this movie. It's super cute and I would highly recommend it. This was close to making it on my top 20, but it's new and hasn't really made enough impact on me to replace an older one just yet.

Hotel Transylvania
Another new one. This one is cute, but I'm not sure it's one that I would want to watch over and over.

The Little Mermaid
I've always loved this one. I'm sure the singing has something to do with it. I even had a black cat that I named after Sebastian. I was 6. Give me a break.

Meet The Robinsons
I really, really liked this movie. I thought the scientist lady was really funny. I think the story is really cute.

Monsters, Inc.
Trevor loves this one, too. It took me a long time to finally watch this one as well. I thought it was really cute and I can definitely see myself watching this one from time to time.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
I've always really liked this one, but her voice gets on my nerves sometimes. I was always jealous of the fact that wild animals would come right up to her. I wanted that. Bitch.

Tangled
This one was really adorable and had some funny parts. It's been a while since I last watched it, so I think I might have to do that soon.

If you agree or disagree with my list, let me know. Also, tell me about some of your favorites or ones that I've missed. I'd love to hear what you think. :)

Music Flashback #1

I came up with this fantastic idea to occasionally do posts dedicated to old songs that I love(d) or remind me of being young. Although I will also include some that I hated. I'm hoping that it will bring back some memories for others as well. I have written down pages and pages of songs and I'm sure I could still find a ton more, but I think I have a pretty good start for now. I'm not sure that there will be any sort of organization to how I group them. That almost seems like way too much work and with me being a perfectionist and overly organized, it would probably kill me. I'm thinking that I will do 10 songs each installment. Sound good? Alright!

"Do Right" Jimmy's Chicken Shack

"Three Little Pigs" Green Jelly

"New Age Girl" Deadeye Dick

"Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" Crash Test Dummies

"Your Woman" White Town

"If You Could Only See" Tonic

"Hey Pretty" Poe

"Everything About You" Ugly Kid Joe

"Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand" Primitive Radio Gods

"Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)" Nine Days

Please share your thoughts with me and let me know if any of these songs brought back some memories for you.
